Her crocheting has been put down.
She sips her sweetened tea.
A big fat cat yawns lazily in her lap,
while her canary sings with an operatic trill.

In her dream,
mother performed a brilliant arabesque,
standing on one leg, with her arms
arranged artfully in a harmonious line.
This was followed by a perfect plie,
and then multiple pirouettes.
She then leaped into a soaring vertical jump,
in which her feet were able to change position
in the air at least five times,
ending in a splendid splitz.

with a thundering applause,
showering her with bravos and roses.
She smiled and bowed with pride.
