"Waiting For Her Prince"© Acrylic 28x22 in |
Patiently she waited, and anticipated. Dreaming of the day, her prince would carry her away. Waiting for a kiss, and a lifetime of bliss. But of course life isn't Disney, with "Happily ever after", or Snow White with her apple, or Ariel with her voice, or Belle with her beast, or Rapunzel with her hair. That's why they call them "Fairy tales", because they're not real my dear. So, daughters and granddaughters, go to school, study hard, and get an education. Because if you want a good life, and a wonderful career, then you're going to have to do it, yourself, my dear! |
If I knew then, what I now know, a different way I'd want to go. I would have loved you so much more, with hugs and kisses forevermore. I'd listen to each word you said, I'd kneel beside your sleeping bed. I'd always cook your favorite meals, to let you know just how I feel. I'd look into your soulful eyes, and see the love that's living there. I'd wash your face, I'd comb your hair. I'd read to you, I'd make you smile, Your laugh would make my life worthwhile. Your hopes, your dreams, would be mine too, I'd help to make them all come true. Oh, for a chance, to prove to you, all the things that I would do. |
